Our Partners & Our Programs
32BJ Health Fund Centers of Excellence (COE) for Joint Replacement and Weight Loss (Bariatric) Surgery
Through our collaboration with Mount Sinai in New York, we’ve partnered with other specialty hospitals—in New Jersey, Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania—to establish the 32BJ Health Fund Centers of Excellence (COE).
Gender Affirmation Program
We are proud to offer a Gender Affirmation Program, comprising comprehensive health services, including primary care, hormone therapy, surgical care, gynecology, urology, social work, and mental health counseling and support groups. The Mount Sinai Center for Transgender Medicine and Surgery takes a multidisciplinary team approach to caring for trans and gender nonconforming people by developing a customized plan that serves each patient’s personal goals. Participants pay their regular in-network copays for the care they receive.
MSK Direct
Through our partnership with Memorial Sloan Kettering, the Health Fund offers participants access to MSK Direct, a free, concierge-style program for those who have received a cancer diagnosis, those who may be looking for a second opinion, and those who have questions about cancer treatment and care.
MSK Direct’s Care Advisors are available to 32BJ Health Fund participants via a dedicated toll-free telephone number. MSK Direct also provides online cancer care resources in English and Spanish.
32BJ 5 Star Center Program
The 32BJ 5 Star Center Program offers the convenience of primary and specialty medical care all in one location. We have numerous 5 Star Centers located in several states, and with its newly renovated, state-of-the-art facility and wide range of services, the Union Health Center in Manhattan is our flagship 5 Star Center.
32BJ Maternity Program
The Health Fund created the 32BJ Maternity Program to help reduce medical risks faced by expectant people and their babies in the New York City metropolitan area by partnering with seven New York and New Jersey hospitals. In fact, every year, 50,000 child-bearing individuals in the United States are harmed giving birth, and those in New York State and New Jersey, particularly people of color, have more maternity-related health complications than the national average. The hospitals and providers we selected were required to meet rigorous standards for delivering excellent maternity care and the best maternity experience and must report certain results to us (e.g., number of births, deliveries with complications, episiotomy rates, babies requiring intensive care) to prove they continue to meet quality standards.
Village Maternity
Because many child-bearing individuals are looking for additional options for prenatal care through delivery and postpartum support, we’ve partnered with Manhattan-based Village Maternity. Their team of midwives and OBs assesses the viability of midwifery care for each expectant person and delivers all babies at Metropolitan Hospital. The World Health Organization has designated Metropolitan Hospital as “Baby Friendly.” Metropolitan also has the lowest cesarean rate of any hospital in Manhattan.
